History and Structure

The company Lietkabelis was founded in 1958 at the city of Panevezys. The first production – enamelled wires for electronics and electrical engineering industries of Lithuania and foreign countries, were entered into production year after the establishment.

Since 1962 company started the production of various polyvinylchloride and polyethylene insulated copper and aluminium low voltage power cables for building and electrical engineering industries.

In 1992 company made a start for production of cables according Great Britain standard BS6004. The export to UK is continuing till now. In the same year the production of automotive wires according VOLVO standard for vehicles and tractors had started on.

In 1993 the national enterprise Lietkabelis had been privatized and registered as Joint Stock Company “Lietkabelis”.

In 1997 JSC “Lietkabelis”, one of the first companies in Lithuania, implemented the quality management system according ISO 9001.

In 1997 company set up the new activity – assembling automotive cable harnesses for VOLVO busses and trucks. The production of cable harnesses for engines and electrical equipments was expanded in 1998. The assembling of automotive feed system cable harnesses was started in 2000.

In 2001 Environmental Management System according ISO 14001 was implemented by certification company KEMA.

In 2003 the company was approved by British certification body BASEC and received Product Certification licence, which verify the conformity to the requirements of Great Britain and Ireland standards.

In 2004 JSC “Lietkabelis” modernized copper drawing technological process.

In 2007 JSC “Lietkabelis” was awarded with Lithuanian export prize.

Since 2009 company organises the projects for obtaining support from ES funds. Due to stimulation of renewable energy sources using, company prepared the project and in 2010 started creating wind power mill for domestic purpose.

In 2010 JSC “Lietkabelis” was awarded with Lithuanian export prize.

In 2011 company started the modernization of installation wires and cables manufacturing process.
